The Market Gap Left by Western Brands: A 2026–2027 Opportunity Map for Turkish Companies

Sector Before 2021 (Western Brands) 2026 Opportunity (Turkish Companies) Related Fair
Footwear & Leather Geox, Ecco, Clarks, Salamander Turkish leather and footwear manufacturers LeShow / Euro Shoes @ CPM
Textile & Clothing H&M, Zara, Mango, Reserved Turkish apparel and home textiles Textillegprom
Food & Beverage European private label brands Turkish food exporters WorldFood / Prodexpo
Plastics & Packaging German and Italian suppliers Turkish plastics sector Ruplastica
Automotive Parts Western European OEM suppliers Turkish automotive supply industry MIMS Automobility

The table above is not a projection but a lived commercial reality. Since 2022, more than 200 international brands have withdrawn from the Russian market. However, this market of 145 million consumers did not disappear; the need for footwear continues, the food basket is being filled, and factories are looking for plastic and packaging materials. Who is filling this gap? According to the data, Turkey is one of the rare NATO members among Russia’s largest trading partners. Turkish companies can read this picture not as “going and making sales” but as becoming the new owner of a market that is structurally being vacated. This guide was prepared to tie that position to concrete fair calendars.

The Turkey–Russia Trade Bridge: A Strategic Position in Numbers

In the post-2022 period, Turkey’s trade volume with Russia showed a notable increase. Turkey became one of Russia’s primary external suppliers across many categories, from textiles to food, from construction materials to machinery and equipment. This development is not coincidental; it is the result of a structural positioning.

Geographical advantage: The average flight time from Istanbul to Moscow is 3 hours. Unlike Western competitors reaching Moscow from Frankfurt, Milan or Amsterdam, for Turkish companies Russia is a regional market; not an intercontinental journey. This distance advantage is directly reflected in logistics costs and fair organization.

Diplomatic access: Turkey maintains its bilateral economic relations with Russia while preserving its NATO membership. This balance gives Turkish companies both access to Western financial systems and the ability to maintain an operational presence in Russian markets. While Western European competitors cannot do both at the same time, Turkish companies can reach into both wallets at once.

Cultural and historical ties: Thanks to decades of tourism, textile and food trade between the Turkish and Russian consumer bases, brand recognition and a foundation of trust already exist. The “trust-building process” that a Western brand entering Russia for the first time must carry has largely already been overcome for Turkish companies.

Textile and apparel: Turkey has become an active supplier in both the lower and upper-tier categories of Russia’s ready-to-wear imports. Turkish apparel manufacturers emerging from Diyarbakır, Bursa and Istanbul are settling into the gap left by leading fast-fashion brands.

Food exports: Russia’s food purchasing pattern has changed. The place of European private label products is being filled by Turkish flour products, sweets, olive oil, canned goods and beverage brands. WorldFood Moscow and Prodexpo are the most concrete showcases of this transformation.

Important Note: Trade with Russia has a dynamic regulatory structure in terms of payment systems, logistics routing and sector-specific regulations. Before starting your fair planning, we recommend that you evaluate the current situation specific to your sector with Delta Expo experts.

Two Cities, Two Fair Centers

Moscow

Russia’s commercial capital and the city of 6 of the 7 fairs in this guide. Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center, as the shared venue for textile, leather, food, plastic and footwear fairs, reinforces Moscow’s commercial weight.

Fairs: LeShow, Euro Shoes @ CPM, WorldFood, Textillegprom, Ruplastica, Prodexpo

Saint Petersburg

Russia’s second-largest city and the center of the automotive industry. Expoforum Saint Petersburg hosts the MIMS Automobility fair, appealing to a different buyer base. It forms a separate route for Turkish companies targeting the automotive supply industry and OEM supply.

Fair: MIMS Automobility Saint Petersburg

The buyer profiles and purchasing decision mechanisms of the two cities differ. Moscow operates through holding and distributor centers where central purchasing decisions are made. Saint Petersburg, on the other hand, offers a more direct dialogue environment with regional factory purchasing managers and technical decision-makers. Delta Expo’s local network established in both cities makes it easier for you to manage this distinction operationally.

2026–2027 Russia Fairs — Detailed Chronological Guide

LeShow Moscow 2026 — Leather and Fur Fair

Date: June 23–25, 2026  |  Venue: Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center, Moscow

LeShow is Russia’s most established leather and fur fair. From Moscow’s boutique stores to regional leather product retailers, from footwear brands to accessory distributors, a wide buyer base comes together at this fair every year. Since the fair covers not only fur but also processed leather, bags, belts and leather apparel categories, the entire product range of the Turkish leather sector finds a place here.

Turkish Advantage: Turkey is one of the world’s leading leather-processing centers. Leather manufacturers originating from Diyarbakır and Istanbul can offer similar quality without carrying an Italian premium price tag. The gap created by the withdrawal of Italian and Spanish competitors from the Russian market gives Turkish leather producers a natural position in terms of price-quality balance.

Euro Shoes @ CPM Moscow 2026 — Footwear Fair

Date: August 25–28, 2026  |  Venue: Crocus Expo, Moscow

Euro Shoes @ CPM is Russia’s largest international footwear and accessories fair. The fair is held simultaneously with the CPM (Collection Premiere Moscow) textile and ready-to-wear fair; this means that footwear, bag and clothing buyers flock to Crocus Expo in the same week. In terms of visitor density and buyer profile, it is one of the most critical commercial events of the summer period.

Turkish Advantage: The İzmir Leather & Footwear cluster and footwear exporters in Istanbul have reached an unrivaled position at this fair as Spain and Italy left the market. In addition, price-sensitive Russian retailers focus on supply reliability rather than brand value; this means a buyer base with which Turkish producers can make long-term contracts.
Overlap Warning: Euro Shoes @ CPM Moscow (August 25–28) and MIMS Automobility Saint Petersburg (August 25–28, 2026) are held on the same dates. Companies in the textile-footwear sector and the automotive supply industry need to be aware of these events overlapping in two different cities in the same week. Delta Expo recommends that you carry out a priority analysis if you are planning to participate in more than one fair.

MIMS Automobility Saint Petersburg 2026 — Automotive Industry

Date: August 25–28, 2026  |  Venue: Expoforum Saint Petersburg, Saint Petersburg

MIMS Automobility is Russia’s most comprehensive automotive and automotive supply industry fair. Held in Saint Petersburg, the fair brings together vehicle manufacturers, OEM parts suppliers, aftermarket product companies and service equipment manufacturers. The restriction of Russia operations by some Western OEM suppliers has accelerated the search for domestic and suitable alternative suppliers.

Turkish Advantage: Turkey’s automotive supply industry, based in Bursa and Kocaeli, can manufacture parts at European caliber. Because these companies work with the European OEM supply chain, they hold quality certificates; at the same time, they are in a position to enter Russian markets. MIMS is the ideal platform to actually accomplish this transition.

WorldFood Moscow 2026 — Food and Beverage Fair

Date: September 2026 (Exact date to be announced)  |  Venue: Crocus Expo, Moscow

WorldFood Moscow maintains its status as the largest international food and beverage fair of Russia and the CIS region. From fresh products to processed food, from beverages to the organic product category, Russia’s food import agenda is set at this fair across a wide range. At the fair, where participants from more than 30 countries meet, the buyer profile consists of distributors, Horeca chain purchasing managers and retail chain supply departments.

Turkish Advantage: Russian consumers are already familiar with Turkish food products; indeed, through their holiday experiences they carry a positive predisposition toward Turkish cuisine. Russia is among the rare markets where product promotion can be done without a hard-sell requirement. On the other hand, the emptying of the shelf by European private label food brands offers Turkish food exporters a genuine opportunity to gain shelf space in both retail and Horeca channels.

Textillegprom Moscow 2026 — Textile, Apparel, Ready-to-Wear and Home Textiles

Date: September 15–18, 2026  |  Venue: Crocus Expo, Moscow

Textillegprom is the most comprehensive textile, apparel, ready-to-wear and home textile fair of Russia and the CIS. Held twice a year, the fair’s autumn edition falls on a calendar that particularly covers the ordering processes of spring–summer collections. The fair’s scope encompasses the entire chain from textile raw materials to the finished product: yarn, fabric, product groups, ready-to-wear apparel, technical textiles and home textiles.

Russia’s largest textile buyer profiles place open orders here: chain retail companies, warehouse purchasing managers, e-commerce textile channels and corporate clothing suppliers. This fair is a critical meeting point especially for Russian buyers who have been searching for a "substitute supplier" since Western fast-fashion chains vacated the market.

Turkish Advantage: Turkey is one of the world’s five largest countries in textile exports. With Bursa yarn and fabric, Denizli home textiles, Istanbul apparel, and the cotton production of Kahramanmaraş and Adana, it is broad enough to meet Russia’s demand in all textile segments. Moreover, H&M and Zara leaving the field to Russia has directly increased demand for Turkish OEM/ODM production as domestic retailers turn to a "private label” strategy.

Ruplastica 2027 Moscow — Plastics and Rubber Industry

Date: January 26–29, 2027  |  Venue: Crocus Expo, Moscow

Ruplastica is the largest plastics and rubber industry fair of Russia and Eastern Europe. Plastic raw materials, packaging solutions, plastic processing machinery, rubber products and durable plastic pipe and profile systems are the main categories of this fair. Dominated by industrial users and machinery investors, the fair is focused on B2B industrial supply rather than the everyday consumer goods sector.

Ruplastica, which carries the distinction of being the first fair of the year with its January date, is one of the early-period events where Russian industrial buyers activate their annual procurement budgets. Closing orders in this time frame is strategically important in terms of securing the delivery calendar throughout the year.

Turkish Advantage: German and Italian plastic equipment and raw material suppliers have restricted some of their operations in Russia. The Turkish plastics sector, on the other hand, includes companies already exporting to Russia in both plastic packaging and PVC profile-pipe categories. Ruplastica serves these companies as a platform for expanding existing relationships and building new buyer networks.

Prodexpo Moscow 2027 — Food, Beverage and Food Raw Materials

Date: February 2027 (Exact date to be announced)  |  Venue: Expocentre, Moscow

Prodexpo is the largest food and beverage fair of Russia and the entire Eastern Europe-CIS region. In terms of annual number of participants, together with WorldFood it constitutes one of the two poles of the Russian food sector. Prodexpo serves across a wide range covering processed foods, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), food raw materials, spices, organic products and halal food categories. Its taking place in February makes it a strategic agenda item for buyers in terms of coinciding with the start of annual supply contracts.

Turkish Advantage: Turkey’s production capability with halal food certification offers a concrete open door in distributor networks oriented toward Russia’s Muslim population-dense regions (Tatarstan, Bashkortostan). On the other hand, distributor reports indicate that demand for Turkish brands in the olive oil, canned products, nuts and sweets categories has increased over the past two years.

Points to Consider When Participating in Russia Fairs

The opportunity map that Russia offers is real; however, some operational and regulatory matters that need to be considered when entering this market require more preparation compared to other fair destinations. With its 30 years of Russia fair tour experience, Delta Expo manages these processes on behalf of participants; nevertheless, we summarize below what you need to know.

Payment and Banking Systems

After 2022, international payment channels were restructured in terms of transactions with Russia. In order to be able to receive payment through SWIFT–alternative systems (the MIR card system, direct bank transfer, authorized intermediary institutions), corporate bank arrangements need to be made in advance. Delta Expo provides participants with practical guidance on this matter at the start of the process.

Sector-Specific Regulations and Rosstandart Certification

Some product categories require approval from Rosstandart (the Russian national standards body) before being offered for sale in the Russian market. Food products, electrical equipment and certain textile categories may fall within this scope. It is worth recalling that there is a difference, in terms of certification obligation, between bringing samples to the fair and making commercial sales.

Insurance and Logistics

In the process of transporting fair equipment and samples to Russia, cargo insurance and customs declaration procedures differ from standard EU customs processes. Preparing the supplementary customs documents in advance and, if necessary, working with a specialized Russia logistics operator minimizes process loss.

Keeping Track of Current Regulations

The pace of change in trade regulations with Russia is higher than in standard export markets. We strongly recommend that you evaluate the current regulations specific to your sector together with Delta Expo experts 3–4 months before the fair date. This step is the surest way to protect your fair investment.

Russia Visa: Practical Information for Fair Participants

Russia does not grant visa exemption to Turkish citizens. For fair participation, a Russian residence visa or business visa must be obtained. The visa application can be made through the Russian Federal Tourism Agency or the Russian Consulate. An e-visa application is also ongoing for some regional entry points; however, whether this application covers entries into Moscow and Saint Petersburg may change from time to time.

Required documents: An invitation letter (from the fair or the Russian host company), a valid passport, a visa application form and an insurance certificate are among the basic documents. For corporate participants, a trade registry certificate and a signature circular may also be requested.

Delta Expo provides Russia visa document preparation within the scope of the fair package. For the current status of visa procedures and the document list, you can review our page below.
